The win comes after a turbulent period for Liverpool, and the pressure was on Arne Slot's team to deliver. Their performance was a welcome boost for the six-time champions.

A familiar face sparked life into Liverpool's Champions League hopes as Alexis Mac Allister's clever corner set up Dominik Szoboszlai's stunning equalizer. The Hungarian midfielder made the most of his late run, controlling the ball with his body before unleashing a clinical left-footed shot into the bottom corner, leveling the tie.

Salah blew a chance to make amends from the spot, blazing his penalty over the bar wasn't the issue, but he did hit it straight at Cakir, who did well to keep it out. The Galatasaray keeper then produced a fine double save to deny Salah and Florian Wirtz.

Liverpool's hopes were hanging in the balance at half-time, but two goals in two minutes turned the game on its head.

Alexis Mac Allister's influence was huge, setting up Mohamed Salah, whose cross was expertly finished by Hugo Ekitike, putting Liverpool ahead. The momentum shifted in their favor, and they sealed the win when Ryan Gravenberch pounced on Cakir's save from Salah's shot, giving them a comfortable lead.

Salah finally got his name on the scoresheet with a trademark curling left-footer, scoring his 50th UCL goal and becoming the first African player to reach that milestone. Galatasaray were on the ropes, and Salah's strike was the cherry on top.
