Sweden's Graham Potter signs new deal, staying on as coach until 2030...
Graham Potter has extended his contract as Sweden coach until 2030, the Swedish Football Association announced on Thursday. The 50-year-old, who made his name in Swedish club football with Ostersund, has had a varied career, also managing Premier League clubs Chelsea and West Ham United.
Potter took the Sweden job on a short-term contract in October 2025, and this extension shows the SvFF's confidence in him.
“To be able to continue in this role means a lot to me. I feel both a great pride and a great responsibility,” Potter said in a statement published by the SvFF.
“It's a big day for me and a fantastic opportunity to do something important going forward ... Sweden is a football country with a proud history of teams that have made it to the finals of major championships and competed there, which we want to return to.”

Sweden is still in the running for the World Cup, despite their poor performance in the qualifying group under Jon Dahl Tomasson, who was eventually sacked. Graham Potter's team will face Ukraine in a playoff match in Valencia, Spain, on March 26th.
If Sweden beats Ukraine, they'll move on to face either Poland or Albania in Stockholm on March 31st. The winner of that match will secure a spot in the World Cup, happening in the US, Canada, and Mexico starting June 2026.
