Hammarby edge Sirius in shootout, Mjallby cruise to Svenska Cupen final...

Hammarby and Mjallby will clash in the 2026 Svenska Cupen final! Hammarby edged Sirius 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 3-3 draw, while Mjallby cruised past GAIS 3-0 in their semi-final.

Sirius took the lead midway through the first half, with Neo Ozzy Jonsson's shot finding its way into the bottom corner.

Hammarby turned the game around after halftime, with Noah Persson's low cross being steered home by Markus Karlsson to level the score. Just six minutes later, they took the lead when Montader Madjed's curling shot flew past David Celic.

Sirius refused to give up, and 12 minutes from time, they earned a corner that led to Robbie Ure heading home a flick-on, sending the game to extra time.

In the extra period, Sirius took the lead for the second time when Isak Bjerkebo's sprint into the box caused a scramble, and Joakim Persson ultimately scored into the empty net.

Hammarby's lead didn't last, and in stoppage time at the end of the first half of extra time, a cross intended for Paulos Abrahams dropped into the path of Nahir Besara, whose turn and volley from six yards sent the match to a penalty shootout.

A tame first penalty for Sirius from Mohamed Soumah was saved by Warner Hahn, and after Hammarby scored their first four, Marcus Lindberg had to score, but again Hahn guessed right to win the shootout 4-2 and send 2021 winners Hammarby through to their sixth final in total.

Mjallby cruised to a 3-0 win over GAIS at Strandvallen, keeping their hopes of a double alive. This marks their second final appearance, after losing to Hacken in 2023.

The breakthrough came with half an hour gone, when Viktor Gustafsson found Tom Pettersson on the edge of the area. The centre-back delivered a stunning first-time curling effort, putting MAIF ahead – a goal a striker would be proud of.

Late in the half, Jeppe Kjaer was brought down by a nasty Matteo de Brienne challenge inside the box, and Elliot Stroud did the honours from the penalty spot.

Mjallby's place in the final was confirmed 10 minutes after the break, as GAIS failed to clear a free-kick launched into their box, allowing Jacob Bergstrom to execute a neat chest and volley from 10 yards out that nestled in the bottom corner.

The Mackerels' run ended, failing to reach the final for the first time since 1987. Instead, Mjallby will head to 3Arena in Stockholm to face Hammarby on May 14th.
