Rangers' Playoff Hopes Fade as Leafs Win 4-3

The New York Rangers' playoff dreams took a hit as they fell 4-3 to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena, becoming the second team to be officially eliminated.

The Leafs stormed out of the gates, scoring twice in the first frame through Jake McCabe and Nick Robertson, before Dakota Joshua made it 3-0 early in the second. The Rangers had to respond fast, and they did, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide.

Alexis Lafreniere got the Rangers on the board midway through the second period, and Mika Zibanejad quickly followed up with a goal that put him fourth all-time in scoring for the team, giving them a glimmer of hope before the break.

The Rangers continued to push, and Zibanejad scored again, making it a one-goal game with under seven minutes left. But it was too little, too late, as the Leafs held on for the win.

The Rangers' losing streak continued as they fell short, unable to find the equalizer. Their sixth consecutive loss keeps them at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, 8 points behind the Florida Panthers.

Toronto, on the other hand, secured back-to-back wins, but still have a long way to go, sitting 10 points out of a postseason spot.

Bruins Edge Sabres in Overtime Thriller

The Boston Bruins got off to a strong start, with David Pastrnak scoring just 11:07 into the game. But the Buffalo Sabres responded quickly, with Jason Zucker tying it up on the power play late in the period.

The Sabres took the lead midway through the second period, only for Boston to strike back with two unanswered goals. Zucker scored his second of the game to tie it up again, sending the game to overtime.

Viktor Arvidsson put Boston back in front 2-1 in the second, but they couldn't hold on. Zach Benson tied it up, and Jason Zucker capitalized with his second power play goal 34 seconds later, giving the Sabres their first lead.

Casey Mittelstadt scored with six minutes to go in regulation, sending the game to overtime. The Sabres couldn't close it out, and the Bruins capitalized in the extra period.

Pavel Zacha scored just 38 seconds into overtime, securing the 4-3 win for Boston. The victory puts the Bruins in fifth spot in the East, their third win in four games.
