Thrilling wins for Hurricanes, Avalanche, Flames, and Capitals...
The Carolina Hurricanes edged the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime, with Alexander Nikishin scoring the winner just 41 seconds into extra time. The Leafs had given the top-of-the-table Canes a tough fight, but ultimately came up short.
Despite being lower in the Eastern Conference standings, Toronto pushed Carolina all the way, with William Nylander scoring a third-period equalizer to send the game to overtime. The Canes' depth and experience ultimately told in the end.

Dakota Joshua got the goals flying for the Buds early, scoring midway through the first. But Carolina wasn't having it, firing back with two goals to take the lead mid-second period through Jordan Staal and Eric Robinson.
The Leafs responded quickly, with John Tavares tying the game at 2-2. But the Hurricanes regained the lead before the second intermission thanks to K'Andre Miller's shorthanded goal.
William Nylander forced overtime with a goal at 13:50 of the third period, and it paid off for the Leafs. However, Carolina's wait for a winner was short-lived - Alexander Nikishin scored just 41 seconds into overtime to seal the 4-3 win.

Toronto Maple Leafs' struggles continue, with 245 goals conceded this season - the second-worst in the league. Their latest loss leaves them second-to-last in the East, and they're under pressure to turn things around.
Avalanche Bounce Back
Colorado Avalanche returned to winning ways with a 4-1 thrashing of Chicago Blackhawks. Martin Necas and Brock Nelson got the Avalanche off to a flying start, and Nazem Kadri and Valeri Nichushkin sealed the win after Wyatt Kaiser pulled one back for Chicago.
