Luka Doncic led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 100-92 win over the Houston Rockets, scoring 36 points and securing their sixth straight victory. The Lakers pulled away in the final minute of the fourth quarter, claiming an impressive road win against the third and fourth-ranked Western Conference teams.

The game was intense, with 13 lead changes, but the Lakers' strong defense held Houston to 92 points. LeBron James contributed 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Marcus Smart's corner three-pointer with two minutes remaining helped seal the win. The Lakers now lead the Rockets by 1.5 games for the third seed in the West.

The Lakers (43-25) have a valuable cushion over the Rockets (41-26) in the Western Conference playoff hunt.

Doncic was the hero again, leading the charge, while the team's tough D kept Houston's offense contained. LeBron James dropped 18 points, Austin Reaves added 15, and Jabari Smith Jr. led Houston with 22 points.

“We held them to 92 points, which for this team is pretty awesome. We did a great job defensively,” Doncic said.

“We could have done better, but all that matters is that we got the win. We've got to keep this going.”

Around the League

The Spurs edged the Clippers 119-115, relying on a balanced offense to solidify their grip on second place in the West.

Stephon Castle topped the Spurs scorers with 23 points, while Victor Wembanyama dominated with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

The Spurs are on fire, winning 18 of their last 20 games. They clawed back from a 14-point deficit in Q1 to beat the Clippers 119-115.

“They pushed us in the first quarter and sometimes the basketball is not working,” Wembanyama said.

“So we had to get nasty a little bit.”

San Antonio improved to 50-18 and are firmly in sight of the Oklahoma City Thunder (53-15) at the top of the standings.

The Boston Celtics maintained their pursuit of the Detroit Pistons at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 120-112 defeat of the visiting Phoenix Suns.

The game was a shootout between Jaylen Brown (41 points) and Devin Booker (40 points), but the Celtics pulled off the 120-112 win.

Brown and Booker went head-to-head, but Boston's depth ultimately told, securing the W over Phoenix.

Jayson Tatum (21 points) and Derrick White (21 points) backed Brown's 41, while Payton Pritchard torched the Suns from beyond the arc – 15 of his 19 points came from 3-pointers.

Boston's second straight victory left them on 45-23, three-and-a-half games behind leaders Detroit (48-19).

Phoenix slipped to 39-29 and are seventh in the Western Conference, just outside the automatic playoff places.
