Melbourne Storm's Tui Kamikamica is currently in hospital receiving treatment for a suspected stroke. The 31-year-old Fijian forward had a medical episode on Monday morning and is now under the care of hospital specialists, supported by the club's medical staff.

Kamikamica, who captains Fiji at the international level, played 25 minutes for the Storm in their 28-24 loss to the Cowboys on Saturday. He's made 142 appearances for the Storm since his NRL debut in 2017 and is a key player for the team.

The club has requested privacy for Kamikamica and his family during this time and will provide updates on his recovery when appropriate.

“He has undergone treatment for a suspected stroke and is recovering in hospital.

“Tui is receiving the best possible care and is being supported by hospital specialists, alongside the Club’s medical staff. The club asks that Tui’s privacy is respected at this time. Further updates will be provided when appropriate.”

Tui Kamikamica has been a consistent presence for the Melbourne Storm, playing in all four games this year, including his 142nd appearance for the club in their recent loss to North Queensland. He started on the bench in that match, showcasing his versatility and experience. Kamikamica has recently signed a one-year contract extension with the Storm, despite being linked to English Super League club St Helens during the off-season.

Kamikamica's decision to stay with the Storm is a testament to his dedication and the club's faith in him. His experience will be invaluable, especially with new recruits like Davvy Moale and Jack Hetherington joining the team. The 31-year-old Fijian international has been an integral part of the Storm's forward pack since his debut in 2017.
