Red Devils eye champions league spot

Michael Carrick's Manchester United are eyeing a Champions League spot, with the team currently fourth in the Premier League. With 12 games remaining, can they secure a top-four finish?

“I think you've got to feed off the confidence and understand that runs of wins are hard to come by...”

Carrick emphasizes the importance of staying “in the moment” and not getting carried away, as United seeks to maintain its momentum. “We certainly won't get carried away... But we're hungry for more, for sure, and we need to try and make it as long as it can last and stay consistent,” he said. United is now six points clear of sixth-placed Chelsea, with the top five almost certain to qualify for the Champions League.

Manchester United, under Michael Carrick's interim leadership, boasts the league's best form, with six wins and one draw in seven games. They're set to face Newcastle on Wednesday, aiming to maintain momentum and secure a top-four finish.

United's current position is six points clear of sixth-placed Chelsea, with English sides performing strongly in Europe, making Champions League qualification almost certain for the top five

Carrick emphasizes staying focused on the present, saying it's crucial to “stay in the moment” and not get carried away with their current run. This mindset will be key as they face Newcastle, a team in top form themselves.

“We certainly won't get carried away,” he said. “I think you've got to feed off the confidence and understand that runs of wins are hard to come by.

“But we're hungry for more, for sure, and we need to try and make it as long as it can last and stay consistent.”

Carrick's keeping it real, saying United shouldn't look too far ahead as they chase a Champions League spot. They're focused on taking it one game at a time, starting with Wednesday's clash against Newcastle.

“I think we're in a good position and we've kind of earned it,” he said. “The boys have earned it, and we've got to try and make the most of it from now on.

He added: “Talent-wise, ability-wise, I think the boys have shown what they can do.”

“And then there's that balance of good habits, good behaviours, and actually looking after each other in the certain times you've got to really dig in and show that good spirit and team spirit, so I can't speak highly enough of the players.”
