Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah suffers ankle injury, out for 6 weeks. Fernandez future clarified, team prepares for Everton clash...
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has insisted that Enzo Fernandez is fully committed to the club, despite the midfielder's non-committal comments about his future following their Champions League exit. Fernandez had said “I don't know, there are eight games left and the FA Cup. There's the World Cup and then we'll see” when asked if he'd be at Chelsea next season.
Rosenior revealed he had a “great conversation” with Fernandez, who expressed his happiness at the club and passion for success. Rosenior believes Fernandez's words were misconstrued due to translation and emotions. Meanwhile, defender Trevoh Chalobah is out for six weeks with an ankle injury sustained during the Paris Saint-Germain match.
In response, the Argentina international said: “I don't know, there are eight games left and the FA Cup. There's the World Cup, and then we'll see.”
Enzo Fernandez, who joined Chelsea for a reported £106m from Benfica in January 2023, remains under contract until 2032. The midfielder's commitment to the club has been reaffirmed by manager Liam Rosenior, despite Fernandez's uncertain comments following Chelsea's Champions League exit.
“I had a great conversation with Enzo at length this morning before training, not just about his comments but how he is feeling, how we can as a team improve,” Rosenior added, speaking ahead of Saturday's league match against Everton.
“He is one of the captains at the club, and what I will say is that he made it really clear how happy he is here at this club, how much he wants to win and how passionate he is for us to be successful.
“He also said that in translation and in emotions, things get misconstrued. For me, he is fully committed to this group and to winning here at this football club.”
Chalobah Suffers Ankle Injury, Out for 6 Weeks
Trevoh Chalobah was carried off injured during Chelsea's defeat by PSG, appearing to twist his ankle severely in a challenge on Achraf Hakimi. The defender is expected to be out for six weeks with the injury.
“It wasn't until later, after the game, that I saw the image (of the twisted ankle). Then everyone saw it, and you're really worried,” Rosenior said.
“It's never good to hear that Trevoh is out for any period of time, but fortunately, it's nowhere near as serious as first feared.
“It's not a serious injury, but we're looking at a period of six weeks, which is disappointing. But where we were a couple of days ago, we're in a better place than what we thought.”

Chelsea, currently sixth in the Premier League standings with just one win in their last five league games, will be looking to turn their fortunes around when they face eighth-placed Everton. The Blues are desperate to revive their Champions League qualification hopes, and a win at Hill Dickinson Stadium could be just what they need.
Chelsea's recent struggles have been evident, with Enzo Fernandez's commitment to the club being questioned after his non-committal comments following their Champions League exit. Manager Liam Rosenior has insisted Fernandez remains committed to the club, but the team needs a strong performance against Everton to shake off their slump.
“We have eight huge games left in the Premier League and a cup competition we want to win. We are still in a place to effect things in a positive way,” Rosenior said.
