With the score tied at 11-11 in the first set, Sen remained aggressive, controlling the duels, and after winning six successive points he eventually won the set, converting his first match point at 20-19 to clinch the opener.
Shi Yuqi bounced back in the second set, racing to a 4-2 lead and settling into his stride to win 21-19 and force a decider. But Lakshya Sen refused to back down, regrouping and shifting gears at 13-11 to create a decisive gap and win the match 21-17.
