Jamaica beat New Caledonia 1-0 to face DR Congo for 2026 FIFA World Cup spot...
Jamaica got the breakthrough when Nyikeine spilled Webster's free-kick, and Cadamarteri pounced to score.
The goal gave the Reggae Boyz the edge they needed.
That hard work was nearly undone shortly after the half-hour mark. Presented with a glorious chance to equalise before HT, Georges Gope-Fenepej found himself one-on-one with Andre Blake.

Inexplicably, instead of taking the ball further towards goal, the striker audaciously attempted to chip Jamaica’s captain, which ended in nightmarish fashion for him, as the ball landed straight into the goalkeeper’s gloves.
With all but one of Jamaica’s previous seven matches seeing fewer than two-and-a-half-goals, every opportunity had to be taken. However, it appeared an unmarked Karoy Anderson hadn’t got the memo as he horribly sent his side-footed effort from the edge of the box wide of the intended target.
The Jamaican attack kept pushing in the 66th minute, with Nyikeine making a crucial save to deny Webster. Despite Leon Bailey's introduction, New Caledonia's goalkeeper didn't face much else.
In spite of that, everyone associated with the Jamaica national team won’t lose much sleep considering how close they are now to this year’s WC.
Jamaica’s sixth win across their previous nine matches (D2, L1) across both competitive and non-competitive action gives Rudolph Speid’s side every chance of making only their second-ever appearance at a WC following their sole visit at France 98.
Meanwhile, New Caledonia’s wait to make their debut at FIFA’s principal tournament continues.
