Casemiro's departure leaves a gap at Man Utd. Can Bruno Guimaraes fill it?

Bruno Guimaraes would be a great fit for Manchester United as they look to replace Casemiro. The Brazilian midfielder's departure leaves a big gap, but Guimaraes has the skills and experience to fill it.

Guimaraes has been impressive at Newcastle, showing he can control games and dictate tempo. He's also a great athlete, able to cover a lot of ground and support both defense and attack.

A Legend Bows Out

At 34, Casemiro's decision to leave makes sense, but he'll depart with pride. He became a vital part of Man Utd since joining in 2022.

Casemiro's contributions go beyond just stats - his experience and value to the squad are huge. 22 goals and 13 assists for a defensive midfielder is crazy, especially when you compare it to others like Hojlund, Garnacho, Rashford, and Fernandes

Both his experience and his value to the squad have always been very much in evidence, not to mention that 22 goals and 13 assists from a defensive midfielder stand out.

Particularly when you consider that in the same time frame, only Rasmus Hojlund (26G, 4A), Alejandro Garnacho (26G, 19A), Marcus Rashford (45G, 17A) and Bruno Fernandes (55G, 58A) have more

Casemiro's been a consistent presence for United, with more appearances and 11,205 minutes under his belt. He's also got some impressive passing stats, like 2,088 passes into the final third.

To date, the Brazilian has made 152 appearances (130 as a starter) at the club, totalling 11,205 minutes. Only Diogo Dalot (173 appearances, 160 as a starter, 14,268 minutes) and Bruno Fernandes (191 appearances, 186 as a starter, 16,682 minutes) have more.

An excellent passing range is also overlooked, with his 2,088 passes into the final third only surpassed by Bruno's 4,735. It's a similar story with forward passes more generally, as Bruno's 3,423 is the only better return than Casemiro's 2,721.

Casemiro's Unsung Skills

Casemiro's 81% passing accuracy and 147 chances created show his quality. He's also excelled in one-on-one duels, winning 55.2% of his attempts.

Casemiro's dominance in aerial battles and tackling is hard to match - 444 headed duels and 450 tackles speak for themselves. He's reportedly recommended Bruno Guimaraes as his replacement.

Guimaraes' Geordie Impact

Bruno Guimaraes joined Newcastle six months before Casemiro moved to Man Utd and quickly became a key player for the Magpies

Guimaraes' attitude and work rate have made him a fan favorite at St. James' Park

Guimaraes is crucial to Newcastle's game, so it's no surprise they're not selling. As for matching up to Casemiro, he's got similar energy and defensive skills.

Guimaraes' Attacking Prowess

Guimaraes' 31 goals and 32 assists show he's a creative force. His 44 yellows suggest he's a tough, competitive player.

Guimaraes has been a rock for Newcastle, starting 159 of his 172 games and racking up 14,311 minutes.

3,285 passes into the final third can't be beaten either, though 2,740 forward passes more generally see him drop from his perch quite significantly.

Guimaraes' 234 chances created are top-notch, and his 84.5% pass completion rate is impressive.

Price Tag?

Guimaraes' stats are impressive, but would Man Utd be willing to meet Newcastle's price?

Guimaraes isn't the strongest in the air, winning 77 of 179 aerial duels, but he's a master of tackles - 370 attempts, 220 wins.

All in all, the 28-year-old would be a superb potential replacement for Casemiro, but whether the Red Devils can offer enough to tempt the Magpies into selling their prized asset is another question entirely

Guimaraes ticks all the boxes to replace Casemiro, but would Newcastle let him go?
