Ivory Coast's impressive 4-0 win over South Korea in friendly match, showcasing strong performance ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026
Ivory Coast dominated South Korea in a 4-0 friendly win in Milton Keynes, bouncing back from their Africa Cup of Nations exit. The South Koreans had early chances, with Hwang Hee-Chan's shot flying over the bar in the 12th minute, followed by Oh Hyeon-gyu hitting the post seven minutes later.
The Elephants took control after the early chances, cruising to a comfortable victory. Ivory Coast's performance was impressive, with their attacking play causing problems for the South Korean defense.
South Korea missed their early chances and conceded just after the half-hour mark when Martial Godo let in Evann Guessand, who scored from a narrow angle. Jo Hyeon-Woo had to be on his toes soon after to block Emmaunel Agbadou’s powerful header, and the woodwork came into play again, denying Seol Young-Woo this time.
South Korea's early chances came back to haunt them as Ivory Coast scored just before halftime, with Simon Adingra turning a defender and hammering home a powerful shot into the bottom corner. The Elephants were looking to add to their lead early in the second half, with Jean Michael Seri's curling effort from outside the box flying just wide.
Ivory Coast scored their third goal just after the hour mark, with Godo finishing on the rebound after Jo Hyeon-Woo saved well from Guessand's shot. South Korea hit the woodwork again, this time with substitute Lee Kang-in's effort bouncing back off the foot of the post.
A fourth goal for the African side was perhaps slightly harsh on the Tigers but it came with the very last kick of the game through sub Wilfried Singo’s side-footed finish.
This abruptly ended South Korea’s three-game winning run without conceding, while Ivory Coast secured a morale-boosting win.
