Arsenal edged past Brighton 1-0, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League table. A 20-game unbeaten run in evening kick-offs continues, with Bukayo Saka's early goal proving decisive.
Brighton nearly took the lead early on, but Gabriel's header off the line denied them. The hosts pushed hard, but Arsenal held on for the win.
Bukayo Saka capitalized on Brighton’s missed chance, scoring a stunning goal as his strike squeezed past Bart Verbruggen to punish the Seagulls.
Brighton huffed and puffed in response, but they did so without threatening the Gunners goal.
That was certainly a cause for concern for boss Fabian Hurzeler, whose side had to overcome the team with the best points per game conversion rate after scoring first in the PL this season.
A clash between Gabriel Martinelli and Mats Wieffer sparked controversy just before halftime. Fabian Hurzeler was furious, but referee Chris Kavanagh didn't award a penalty.
Channeling that burning sense of injustice, Brighton started the second half on the offensive, and they finally tested Raya when Georginio Rutter’s stinging drive from the edge of the area needed beating away to safety.

A bigger chance presented itself to Wieffer shortly after the hour mark as he ghosted into the area to latch onto substitute Yankuba Minteh’s teasing delivery, but his downward header bounced into the grateful arms of Raya.
Former Brighton man Leandro Trossard then missed a glorious opportunity to wrap the game up when he skewed an effort wide 15 minutes from time, which was somewhat symptomatic of the struggles Mikel Arteta’s men faced all night.

Arsenal's 1-0 win, combined with Manchester City's 2-2 draw at home to Nottingham Forest, puts them tantalizingly close to their first title in over 20 years. Brighton's loss adds to their mid-table struggles.
