Brighton beat Forest 2-1, secure first back-to-back wins since November...

Brighton secured a narrow 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest at the Amex Stadium, marking their first back-to-back Premier League wins since November. The game started at a lively pace, with both goalkeepers making early saves.

Bart Verbruggen and Matz Sels were both tested in the opening minutes, with Verbruggen keeping out Omari Hutchinson's wide shot and Sels denying Kaoru Mitoma.

The Belgian goalkeeper was beaten soon after as Pascal Gross' delicate pass set up Diego Gomez, who superbly smashed a half-volley into the far corner from an acute angle.

Brighton's lead was short-lived as Igor Jesus set up Morgan Gibbs-White, who equalized with a stunning finish from the edge of the box.

Forest's mistake was costly, as Brighton retook the lead through Danny Welbeck's 10th league goal of the season, assisted by Jack Hinshelwood's clever knock-down.

The Seagulls were dominant from there and really should have extended their advantage before half-time, but Sels rushed out to smother Mitoma’s close-range effort, before Welbeck almost netted his brace with a strike from distance that eventually fizzed inches wide.

Forest have now trailed nine away league matches at the break - the joint-worst record alongside their opponents, Brighton.

Brighton kept pushing in the second half, with Mitoma's cut-back effort going just wide. Pascal Gross' deflected free-kick was also tipped over by Sels, but the hosts couldn't add to their lead.

Forest grew in confidence, with Elliot Anderson's curling effort flying over and Taiwo Awoniyi's header just missing the target in the closing stages.

Nottingham Forest's struggles continued as they lost 2-1, their third straight defeat under Vitor Pereira. They're now just two points above the drop zone.

Brighton's win lifts them to 11th, easing relegation fears as Fabian Hurzeler's side pick up valuable points.
