Denmark thinned the ranks of North Macedonia 4-0 at home, putting them one game away from the World Cup.

The hosts dominated the first half, with North Macedonia hardly testing Denmark goalkeeper Mads Hermansen. Stole Dimitrievski was the busier of the two keepers, making several saves for Macedonia.

Nonetheless, it was Joakim Mæhle who had the game’s first meaningful chance, but after finding his way into the penalty box, Dimitrievski pulled off a decent stop.

However, Hermansen had to make an even better save to keep out Darko Churlinov’s dangerous free-kick, which acted as a small warning sign.

Alexander Bah struck just wide before Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg tested Dimitrievski again, but Denmark could not find the breakthrough before the break.

However, the Danes did not have to wait long into the second half to finally take the lead for the fifth time in seven home matches, and it was Mikkel Damsgaard who got the ball rolling by firing a rebound into the corner.

The Brentford man then turned provider for Gustav Isaksen, who controlled his cross before striking in off the post to send his team on their way.

A quickfire double from the winger then made sure of victory before the hour mark, as he too capitalised on a rebound inside the box.

Rasmus Højlund wanted to join the scoring party as Denmark's top scorer in qualifying, but his effort sailed wide as the match neared its end.

Denmark had a strong performance, winning 4-0 against North Macedonia, with Gustav Isaksen scoring a brace and Mikkel Damsgaard and Christian Norgaard also getting on the scoresheet.

The Danes did add a fourth, though, as two veterans and former Brentford teammates combined - Christian Eriksen found Christian Nørgaard from a corner, and the Arsenal midfielder produced a bullet header into the net.

North Macedonia's World Cup dream ends here, with the Lions well and truly tamed.
