RB Leipzig snapped a four-game winless streak at home with a thrilling 2-1 win over Augsburg, thanks to Arthur Chaves' stoppage-time own goal. The hosts had chances early on, including Christoph Baumgartner's near miss in the 5th minute.

Leipzig trailed until late, but Chaves' dramatic own goal secured the comeback win.

All in all, the midfielder had an inauspicious opening to the contest, as 18 minutes later, he conceded a penalty.

An effort from the edge of the area was deflected wide of the post by the Austria international, but referee Martin Petersen was instructed by the VAR to consult the pitchside monitor.

He noticed Baumgartner handled the ball with an outstretched arm, prompting a penalty award. Kevin Schlotterbeck took the spot-kick, but Maarten Vandervoordt made a great save low down.

The visitors regrouped and took the lead six minutes before half-time, deservedly turning the game around.

A through ball played Fabian Rieder in, and from the left side of the area, he pulled it back to Robin Fellhauer, whose first-time finish beat Vandervoordt to give the Fuggerstadter the advantage.

Victory over Hamburg last week ended a three-game winless run for Leipzig in all competitions, yet they were struggling to build on that here and continued to be frustrated after the restart.

Augsburg kept dodging bullets, with Castello Lukeba's header hitting the post.

An equaliser felt inevitable for the hosts, though, and with just under 15 minutes remaining, they eventually drew level when Yan Diomande forced his way into the area and fired beyond Dahmen to bring them level.

Augsburg very nearly snatched victory in the closing stages when Rodrigo Ribeiro dinked the ball over Vandevoordt, but his effort came back off the post.

Augsburg's missed chance proved costly. Finn Dahmen's clearance hit Arthur Chaves and trickled into the net, sparking wild celebrations in Saxons.

Leipzig climbs to 5th, level with Stuttgart on points. Augsburg's unbeaten run ends in heartbreak, but they're still 9th with a comfy buffer to relegation.
