I started drinking beer and schnapps already during the third lap. It was a crazy experience.”
Gledhill, 23, finished 67th out of 75 starters, over 20 minutes behind winner Einar Hedegart. He openly shared his experience, stating, “I’m pretty drunk right now. It was pretty difficult to finish. But Holmenkollen is about having fun.”

The incident sparked debate within the skiing community, with some criticizing his behavior and others praising his enthusiasm. Gledhill joked about potential doping issues due to his blood alcohol content and suggested other skiers, like Calle Halfvarsson, could benefit from a similar approach.
“I’m pretty drunk right now. It was quite tough to make it to the finish. But at Holmenkollen, it’s all about having fun,” he explained. Gledhill didn’t get through the ordeal entirely unscathed: he admitted to throwing up during the race.
Gledhill trailed way behind, finishing 67th out of 75 starters, over 20 minutes behind winner Einar Hedegart.
