Andres Gimenez made history as the first player of the 2026 MLB season to hit a walk-off, leading the Toronto Blue Jays to a thrilling 3-2 win over the Athletics. Gimenez, 27, smashed a groundball base hit into right-center, bringing home Kazuma Okamoto from third and securing the victory.



Gimenez was the hero of the night, responsible for all three Blue Jays runs. He earlier hit a bases-clearing triple in the fifth, putting the Jays up 2-1. Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers had tied the game with a solo homer in the ninth, but Gimenez delivered the dagger with his walk-off single.
