Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone happy to be competing for multiple trophies in the final three months of the season...

Diego Simeone is urging his Atletico Madrid team to stay focused despite their 4-0 lead going into the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Barcelona. The Argentine coach is aware that Barcelona can bounce back strongly, especially with players like Lamine Yamal, who scored a hat-trick against Villarreal over the weekend.

Atletico Madrid's first-half blitz last month stunned Barcelona, and they failed to score in a domestic match for the first time this season. However, Simeone is not taking anything for granted and wants his team to be disciplined and focused on defending their lead.

“We're thinking ‌about the match ahead of us, against a very good opponent, who are attacking, open and play as a team, making them one of the most competitive sides in LaLiga and in Europe,” Simeone told reporters on Monday.

Barcelona, the LaLiga leaders, are on fire. They've scored seven goals in their last two matches, thanks to Lamine Yamal's hat-trick against Villarreal on Saturday, where they won 4-1. This win puts them four points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the standings.

“(Yamal) is a very good individual player, particularly dangerous in the final stages of the game... we have to put him where he feels most uncomfortable, which is defending,” Simeone said.

Atletico Madrid is currently third in LaLiga, 13 points behind leaders Barcelona, with 12 games left to play. Despite this, manager Diego Simeone is optimistic about their chances, especially with multiple trophies on the line. They're also in the Champions League round of 16, facing Tottenham Hotspur, and have a strong position in the Copa del Rey semifinals after a 4-0 win in the first leg against Barcelona.

Simeone expressed his satisfaction with the team's progress, saying, “In summer, you always think, I wish we could compete for everything. Now we're in a fantastic position, fighting for what we want.” He's focusing on taking the season one game at a time, emphasizing the importance of discipline and strategy, particularly against Barcelona's talented players like Lamine Yamal
