“The confidence didn't waver - didn't waver with myself, didn't waver with anyone on the team...”
The US men's ice hockey team is gaining momentum, with forward Brady Tkachuk expressing confidence they'll “peak at the right time” after their 6-3 win over Denmark. Despite not living up to their full potential, the all-NHL American team showed resilience, coming back from a 2-1 deficit after the first period.
Tkachuk, who plays for the Ottawa Senators, highlighted the team's growing chemistry: “We're finding chemistry and building off that.” His goal early in the second period sparked the US fightback, and he credited his teammates for staying focused despite adversitym
The Americans are widely seen as Canada's biggest challengers, and their next test is against Germany on Sunday.
“It's one of those quick tournaments that you kind of have to find it quick and I think that's what's good about our group, we're just kind of scratching at it right now and it's going to work out that we're going to peak at the right time,” predicted Tkachuk, whose goal early in the second period helped spark the U.S. fight back.
“(We're) finding chemistry and building off that,” added Tkachuk, who plays for the National Hockey League's Ottawa Senators and is part of two sets of brothers on the U.S. Olympic squad.
The US and Germany face off on Sunday, while Denmark takes on Latvia - two crucial Group C matches that'll shake up the standings.
The Americans are looking to build on their 6-3 win over Denmark, and a strong performance against Germany could secure their spot in the quarterfinals.
“The confidence didn't waver - didn't waver with myself, didn't waver with anyone on the team. That's why this is such an elite group,” he told reporters. “I think it's good to go through adversity. You don't want to, but it's good.”

The match got off to a rocky start for the US, with goalie Jeremy Swayman making a perplexing mistake - he lost track of the puck and let one slip by early in the first.
Despite the shaky start, Swayman said his teammates had his back, and he appreciated the support. The Boston Bruins netminder bounced back, and the team's resilience paid off in their 6-3 win over Denmark.
Can they keep the momentum going and secure a spot in the quarterfinals?
