Turkish authorities have detained 32 suspects, including football club executives, as part of a widening investigation into alleged match-fixing and illegal betting in the country's professional leagues. The prosecutor's office in Istanbul stated that the suspects were identified as having placed bets on matches involving their own teams, including wagers on opposing teams during official fixtures.

The investigation is part of a larger crackdown on sports crime, with Turkish authorities aiming to clean up the sport and restore public trust. The operation targeted 33 individuals, with one suspect still at large. Those detained face significant prison sentences under Turkey's Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports.

Police carried out operations across 10 provinces to capture the 32 suspects, with efforts underway to catch one remaining suspect.

The prosecutor's office hasn't revealed the identities of the suspects or their affiliated clubs, keeping the details under wraps as the investigation continues.

Turkish authorities are intensifying their investigation into illegal betting and match-fixing, targeting various levels of Turkish football.

The Turkish football federation has suspended 149 referees and assistants, while dozens, including club chairmen, top players, and commentators, have been detained or arrested in connection with the probes.
