Liverpool's Arne Slot on Injuries and Squad
Liverpool sits sixth in the Premier League, 13 points off leaders Arsenal, but has secured a Champions League playoff spot with a top-eight finish. Manager Arne Slot's side has 42 points from 26 games.
“Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni have had that and games like this could be an option...”
Liverpool manager Arne Slot is keeping a close eye on player workloads to avoid more injuries during their busy schedule. This comes after midfielder Wataru Endo suffered an ankle injury in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Sunderland, adding to the growing list of absentees, including defenders Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley, and Jeremie Frimpong.
Slot has confirmed Endo faces a long spell out and academy players might get a chance against Brighton. “Most important thing is we train today, listen to the players, see how they feel and make the best decisions,” he said.
“We have three clear priorities: FA Cup, Champions League qualification and Champions League,” Slot told reporters at Anfield on Friday.
“We are also aware of the limited options, so the load management is important, the last thing we need is another injury, so that is always the tough thing for a manager, to make the best decision every time. It wouldn't be the first time a player gets injured if they have to play three (games) in seven (days).”
Middlesbrough's Daizen Maeda is set to miss a while with an ankle injury, confirmed by manager Michael Carrick. The striker's absence opens up a spot, and Carrick hints academy players might get a chance, possibly against Brighton.
“I am always looking at the younger players, a few of them are closer and closer to first-team football,” the Dutch manager said.
“Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni have had that and games like this could be an option, but it is about the right balance. We play a strong team and who to play is something to think about.”
Liverpool is currently sixth in the Premier League standings with 42 points from 26 games, trailing 13 points behind leaders Arsenal. Despite their position, they've secured a spot in the Champions League playoffs with a top-eight finish.

Manager Arne Slot has expressed concerns about Liverpool's performance, particularly in set-pieces, stating it's “impossible to win the league” with their current balance. The team has been struggling, and Slot is looking to improve their game.
