“Speechless after that fight. I was really trying to put myself out there...”

Jessica Pegula dominated Elina Svitolina 6-2, 6-4 to win the Dubai Tennis Championships title on Saturday. This victory marks Pegula's 10th WTA Tour singles title and her fourth WTA 1000 title. At 31, turning 32 on Tuesday, Pegula is now the second-oldest woman to win the tournament, after Venus Williams who won it in 2014 at 33.

Pegula's clinical performance included a strong start, breaking Svitolina's serve early and maintaining pressure throughout the match. Svitolina, a two-time Dubai champion, fought hard but couldn't match Pegula's consistency. This win ends Pegula's three-match losing streak in WTA 1000 finals.

“It’s a great birthday present for me. I get to celebrate by flying back home in a few hours. Super happy to go home with the trophy. It was a great week,” Pegula said after ending a three-match losing streak in WTA 1000 finals.

Jessica Pegula dominated the first set, quickly building a 3-0 lead by keeping Elina Svitolina pinned to the baseline. She secured the first break with a slick backhand cross-court shot and held serve with a masterful backhand slice.

Svitolina tried to fight back, but Pegula's experience shone through as she saved two break points to surge 5-1 ahead. A frustrated Svitolina ultimately netted a forehand, handing Pegula the set.

Pegula stayed focused in the second set, grabbing a crucial break in the fifth game, and sealed the win with an ace for her 10th tour title.

“Speechless after that fight. I was really trying to put myself out there, and I was playing like there is no tomorrow, just trying to put all the effort in,” Pegula said.
