Chris Bosh, the former Miami Heat star and Basketball Hall of Famer, is speaking out about a recent health scare that left him “lucky to be alive.” He shared in a video posted to social media that he passed out and woke up covered in his own blood, with no warning or time to prepare.

Bosh, who retired from the NBA in 2019 due to blood clot issues, is still recovering and didn't provide specifics about the incident. He was getting ready for a date night with his wife when he suddenly found himself on the ground, and his wife had to call 911. Bosh has a history of blood clots, which affected his lungs and led to his early retirement from professional basketball.

This health scare has given Bosh a new perspective on life, and he's urging others not to wait to take action on their goals and dreams. “Don't wait to take action because it could come fast, it could come quick. And I'm lucky to be alive, and I feel great about that,” he said.

He's sharing his side of the story. The 41-year-old claimed in an Instagram video he collapsed while getting ready for a night out with the missus.

“I woke up covered in my own blood,” he said. “It was crazy. It was fast. It was instant. There was no warning. I didn't have any time to prepare for it.”

Bosh was part of Miami's “Big Three” with LeBron and Dwyane Wade. His NBA career ended abruptly in the 2015-16 season due to blood clots in his lungs and legs.

Bosh was just 31 when his playing career ended, averaging 19.1 points per game, and he held onto hopes of a return until officially retiring in 2019.

The Miami Heat honored him by retiring his No. 1 jersey in March 2019, and he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021 alongside Paul Pierce, Ben Wallace, and Chris Webber.

This latest health scare has given Bosh a new outlook on life, making him more focused on simplicity and honesty. He's encouraging people to take action on their life plans and desires, not putting things off.

“No matter what it is, make sure you don't wait. That's the thing that I get from this,” he said.

“Don't wait to take action because it could come fast. It could come quick. And I'm lucky to be alive, and I feel great about that.

“And now I'm thinking about how I live my day-to-day life. That's really it. But don't wait.”
