Borussia Dortmund secured a convincing 4-0 win over FSV Mainz, with Julian Ryerson playing a crucial role in all four goals. This victory extends Dortmund's unbeaten Bundesliga run to 15 games (11 wins, 4 draws), cutting the gap to Bayern Munich at the top to just three points.
Dortmund dominated the match, with Serhou Guirassy scoring a first-half brace and Maximilian Beier adding another goal. Ryerson, who had a hand in all four goals, delivered precise crosses and corners that led to Dortmund's headers. The team's strong performance saw them take a 3-0 lead into halftime, courtesy of Guirassy's second goal.
BVB's Ryerson delivered a pinpoint free-kick from the edge of the box, finding Serhou Guirassy who powered a header past Mainz goalkeeper Daniel Batz in the 10th minute. This was BVB's league-high 10th Bundesliga opener from a set piece.
Just five minutes later, Niko Kovač’s Mainz were two goals down as Ryerson delivered another precise ball, this time finding Maximilian Beier who squeezed in a header from a tight angle. Mainz are struggling, and BVB are looking sharp.
Mainz had chances to get back into the game, but Silas's effort went wide, and Silvan Widmer's goal was ruled offside. These missed opportunities proved costly as Guirassy scored his second, nodding in from a Ryerson corner just before halftime.
Guirassy's 11th league goal takes BVB's lead to 3-0, courtesy of Ryerson's pinpoint corner. Mainz need a spark to turn this one around.
Dortmund kept pushing after halftime, with Mainz goalkeeper Batz making crucial saves to deny Felix Nmecha's side-foot attempt, Maximilian Beier's whipped strike, and Julian Brandt's low drive. The team was determined to add more goals to their tally.
Guirassy had a hat-trick chance but headed wide from point-blank range after another Ryerson corner. Dortmund's dominance continued, with Ryerson's precision causing Mainz problems.
In the final stages, substitute Fábio Silva had a chance to score, but Batz beat him to the ball. Dortmund's 3-0 lead at the break was solidified by Guirassy's second goal, and they're looking to add more.
Dortmund secured a 4-0 win over Mainz, thanks to Dominik Kohr's own goal in the 84th minute, courtesy of another Julian Ryerson delivery. This victory extends Dortmund's unbeaten home run to 11 games (9 wins, 2 draws), with just eight goals conceded at the Westfalenstadion and seven clean sheets, both league bests.

Ryerson's exceptional performance included four assists, making him a key player in Dortmund's dominant display. Serhou Guirassy scored a first-half brace, and Maximilian Beier added another goal. Dortmund now trails Bayern Munich by three points at the top of the Bundesliga table.
Dortmund's win keeps the heat on Bayern, who's three points ahead with a game in hand. Mainz's second loss in six games isn't a disaster, but they're still in a tricky spot, just two points above the relegation play-off zone.
Mainz needs to be careful, as other teams could catch up with them this weekend.
