Ruben Amorim Blasts Manchester United's Wasteful Display Against West Ham
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim slams side's lack of killer instinct after 1-1 draw with West Ham, as Red Devils drop crucial points in top-four push.
“We should have closed the game with the ball because the game was there to win...”
Ruben Amorim is furiouus with Manchester United after they dropped points against West Ham. They blew a lead and settled for a 1-1 draw, which feels like a loss given how the game went. United are 8th in the Premier League, just 2 points outside the top 4, but they're struggling to capitalize on leads.
United've failed to win at home all season, and they've blown leads against Spurs and Nottingham Forest too. Amorim's getting frustrated, and rightly so. They had a chance to go top, but they've dropped valuable points. Now, they've got Aston Villa next, and they'll be looking to get back on track.
“We should have closed the game with the ball because the game was there to win,” said Amorim.
“The game was under control. We knew it (we needed to) defend far from our box as any set-pieces can be a problem.
“We couldn't do it, we couldn't maintain the ball and again we lost two points.”

Dalot's opener came just before the hour, but things took a turn when Magassa equalized from a corner with 7 minutes to go. Amorim was visibly frustrated, cutting a defeated figure on the sidelines.
“I think the overall performance was not perfect. We had our moments but we lost control in the game in some minutes in the first half and in the second half, especially after the goal,” added Amorim.
“It is really frustrating because you look at the game, you have the game under control and we didn't win.”
