Sheffield Wednesday, already in crisis, has been hit with another six-point deduction by the English Football League (EFL).
The latest penalty is due to the club's failure to pay players in March, May, and June, along with other unpaid staff and tax debts.
The former Premier League club were hit with a 12-point deduction on October 24th after filing for administration.
They are bottom of the table in the Championship, the second tier of English football, and are now on -10 points.
An EFL statement read: “Sheffield Wednesday FC are to be deducted six points with immediate effect for multiple breaches of EFL regulations relating to payment obligations, with the club's former owner, Mr Dejphon Chansiri, prohibited from being an owner or director of any EFL club for a period of three years.
“The sanctions on both the club and Mr Chansiri can be confirmed after the parties reached an agreement on the appropriate sanction, which was subsequently ratified by the chair of the appointed independent disciplinary commission.”
Sheffield Wednesday's troubles deepened after they were handed a 12-point deduction on October 24th for filing for administration, and now a further six-point penalty has pushed them further into the red, leaving them on -10 points.
