Manchester United's women's team marked their Champions League debut with a 1-0 win over Valerenga, thanks to Maya Le Tissier's first-half penalty. This historic victory showcases the team's growth since the women's side was formed in 2018. Le Tissier's penalty, awarded after a harsh handball call against Valerenga's Arna Eirksodottir, proved to be the deciding factor in the match.

In contrast, Chelsea's evening didn't go as planned. The English champions were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Twente in the Netherlands. Despite dominating possession, Chelsea struggled to create clear-cut chances until Twente's Danique Van Ginkel scored just after the hour mark. However, Guro Reiten's trip in the box allowed Sandi Baltimore to level the score from the penalty spot with 20 minutes remaining.

English champions Chelsea's latest quest to conquer Europe got off of a poor start as they failed to capitalise on a dominant display in the Netherlands.

Despite winning the Women's Super League for the past six seasons, the Blues have failed to ever win the Champions League.

FC Twente took the lead against Chelsea just after the hour mark when Danique Van Ginkel scored a stunning goal, curling the ball around Mille Bright and into Livia Peng's top corner. However, Chelsea equalized 20 minutes from the end when Guro Reiten was fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty that Sandi Baltimore converted to level the score at 1-1.
