Nottingham Forest got off to a flying start under Sean Dyche, securing a 2-0 win over Porto in the Europa League.

The hosts came out strong, with Elliot Anderson forcing a save early on and Callum Hudson-Odoi unleashing two quick shots, one palmed away by Diogo Costa and the other deflected over by Alan Varela.

The pressure paid off in the 19th minute when Jan Bednarek handled Douglas Luiz's cross, giving Nottingham Forest a penalty, which Morgan Gibbs-White coolly slotted home.

Forest's defense looked solid, blocking shots from Samu Aghehowa and Victor Froholdt to preserve their lead.

Nottingham Forest suffered a setback when Igor Jesus was booked for a challenge on Alan Varela, ruling him out of the upcoming match against Sturm Graz.

The Forest goalkeeper, Matz Sels, was tested in the 38th minute but came up big, palming away Varela's long-range shot.

The first half ended quietly, with Pablo Rosario spiking a chance wide and Oleksandr Zinchenko being replaced due to injury.

Bednarek's early struggles continued after the break, first having his goal disallowed for offside before having a shot saved.

Nottingham Forest manager Francesco Farioli made three changes just before the hour mark, but Porto still struggled to break down the hosts.

The visitors had a few close calls, with Gabri Veiga forcing Matz Sels to tip a corner over and Callum Hudson-Odoi having a shot blocked by Jan Bednarek. The hosts then sealed the win when Martim Fernandes fouled Nicolò Savona, and Igor Jesus converted the resulting penalty, sending it down the middle.

Nottingham Forest held firm to secure a 2-0 win, earning Sean Dyche a perfect start as manager and ending a 10-game winless streak.

The victory also ended Porto's 12-match unbeaten run and halted their perfect start to the Europa League campaign, giving Forest three crucial points in the process.
