AS Roma defeated Parma 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico, with the win propelling them to the top of the Serie A standings alongside Napoli. Given Roma's tendency to score early, dominating possession from the start wasn't surprising. Mario Hermoso's header from a corner kick in the 63rd minute gave Roma the lead, which they doubled when Artem Dovbyk scored in the 81st minute.

Roma struggled to create clear-cut chances, but they did have a couple of close calls. Christian Ordonez initially had a shot blocked after an offside in the build-up was seemingly overlooked, and the wide man later forced a routine save from Mile Svilar.

An early injury to Evan Ferguson led to Leon Bailey replacing him, and Bailey quickly made his presence felt. He had Roma fans on the edge of their seats with a one-on-one opportunity, but fortunately for the opposition, he was flagged offside.

The hosts were finally starting to threaten as halftime approached. In a moment of excitement, Matias Soule's impressive strike sent the ball bouncing into the bottom corner, only for VAR to intervene once again due to an offside call. As the break loomed closer, Zion Suzuki made a crucial save, expertly tipping Paulo Dybala's header over the bar to maintain the deadlock.

The second half began on a positive note for Parma, with Oliver Sorensen having a promising opportunity. However, he couldn't capitalize, firing a tame shot that Mile Svilar easily saved. Roma then took control, dominating possession and creating chances until they finally broke through in the 63rd minute. Mario Hermoso headed a corner into the ground, beating Zion Suzuki to nod the ball home.

Roma's pressure paid off as they continued to probe Parma's defense. The breakthrough goal sparked more attacking intent from the home side, who looked determined to extend their lead. Hermoso's header gave Roma the advantage, and they looked increasingly confident of winning.

Parma's struggles to find the net continued, with the team having scored a league-low three times this season. Their quest for an equalizer came close when Oliver Sorensen's well-executed half-volley was denied by Mile Svilar's impressive fingertips.

Roma sealed their win with a decisive goal in the 81st minute, courtesy of substitute Artem Dovbyk's skillful control in a crowded box, followed by a precise shot on the turn. However, their two-goal lead was short-lived, as Parma quickly responded to cut the deficit in half.

With time slipping away, a long throw was flicked on by Adrian Benedyczak, allowing Alessandro Circati to slide home a goal that gave Parma late optimism.

However, there was ultimately no late comeback as Roma held firm to claim just a second win in six home matches across all competitions, remaining second in the league standings but ultimately drawing level on points with Napoli once more

As the match neared its end, Parma scored a late goal courtesy of Alessandro Circati, who slid home a goal from a long throw by Adrian Benedyczak. However, it was too little, too late, as Roma held on for a 2-1 win. This victory marked Roma's second win in six home matches across all competitions. Despite the win, Roma remains in second place in the league standings, now tied with Napoli on points.
