Chelsea defender Reece James has withdrawn from the England squad due to an injury sustained during Chelsea's 2-1 Premier League win over Liverpool on Saturday. He has been replaced by 20-year-old Manchester City midfielder Nico O'Reilly, who has received his first senior international call-up.




Nico O'Reilly is a versatile player who has been capped at junior levels for England, representing the country from Under-15s to Under-20s. He joined Manchester City at the age of eight and made his first-team breakthrough last season, making 21 appearances and scoring five goals. O'Reilly has started seven games this season and has played in various positions, including left-back, which could prove valuable for England.


O'Reilly joins Thomas Tuchel's squad for a friendly against Wales at Wembley on October 9 and a World Cup qualifier against Latvia in Riga on October 14.
