Maccabi Tel Aviv has announced that they will decline any tickets offered to their fans for the Europa League match against Aston Villa. The decision comes after the local Safety Advisory Group blocked visiting fans from attending the November 6 match due to safety concerns.


The UK government has expressed its desire to allow Israeli fans to attend the match, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer criticizing the decision to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv fans. The government is working to provide the necessary resources and support to ensure fans can attend safely.






Maccabi Tel Aviv's decision to decline tickets is based on the well-being and safety of their fans, citing past incidents and potential risks. The club has expressed hope that circumstances will change, allowing them to play in Birmingham in a sporting environment in the future.


But a statement on the Maccabi Tel Aviv website said: “The well-being and safety of our fans is paramount and, from hard lessons learned, we have taken the decision to decline any allocation offered on behalf of away fans, and our decision should be understood in that context.


“We hope that circumstances will change and look forward to being able to play in Birmingham in a sporting environment in the near future.”


The announcement follows closely on the heels of a violent clash between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv fans, which led to the cancellation of their Israeli Premier League match.
