Liverpool Flight Delayed, Press Conference Cancelled Ahead of Frankfurt Clash

Flight delay forces cancellation of press conference

Liverpool's trip to Frankfurt hit a snag as technical issues caused a three-hour flight delay, resulting in the cancellation of the pre-match press conference ahead of their Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Liverpool's Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt got off to a rocky start as the team was delayed due to a technical issue with their flight, forcing the cancellation of a pre-match press conference.

Ryan Gravenberch won't be part of the squad due to an ankle injury picked up during Sunday's 2-1 loss to Manchester United. The 21-man squad eventually took off from Merseyside after a three-hour delay, with the team looking to end a potential losing streak that would be their fifth consecutive for the first time in 73 years.

“Our pre-match press conference for the clash with Eintracht Frankfurt has been cancelled,” Liverpool said in a statement.

“A delay in the squad's scheduled flight out to Frankfurt, due to technical issues with the aircraft, means the briefing will now not be able to take place.”

Ryan Gravenberch's absence due to injury could give Florian Wirtz an opportunity to break into the starting lineup as Liverpool face Eintracht Frankfurt. Wirtz, who has struggled to make an impact since joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in a £100 million deal, returns to his homeland and might look to use this chance to prove himself.

Wirtz has been dropped by manager Arne Slot for the last two Premier League games, and a strong performance against Frankfurt could help him get back into contention.

Hugo Ekitike's return to his former club Frankfurt is highly anticipated, and he's expected to start for Liverpool. The £69 million signing has impressed since joining from Frankfurt, and he'll look to make an impact against his old side.

Both teams have three points from their opening two Champions League games, setting the stage for a crucial encounter.
