Julian Alvarez's strike guided Atletico Madrid to a vital 1-0 win over Osasuna, propelling them to fourth place in the LaLiga table.
The victory marked a hard-fought win for Atletico Madrid, who had to contend with a strong Osasuna side. The win was particularly notable given Antoine Griezmann's proximity to reaching 200 LaLiga goals - he fell just shy, missing a early opportunity that would have gotten him there.
Alex Baena appeared to have given Atleti the lead with a superb angled finish from Julian Alvarez's excellent through ball. However, the goal was disallowed due to Griezmann being deemed offside for interfering with play.
Atleti continued to press, with Griezmann having a shot denied by Sergio Herrera from close range moments later. Despite the visitors growing into the contest, Atleti maintained their attacking pressure.
Atleti's goalkeeper Jan Oblak made a crucial save, denying Lucas Torro's effort from Ruben GarcÃa's free-kick. The first half had been frustrating for the hosts, culminating in Diego Simeone's decision to replace injured Nico Gonzalez with Giuliano Simeone just before halftime.
Antoine Griezmann's substitution for Conor Gallagher after 55 minutes slightly altered Atletico's dynamics. Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez continued to create opportunities, latching onto Marcos Llorente's excellent through ball before being denied by Herrera's outstretched leg. Alvarez then picked out Alexander Sorloth in the box, but the Norwegian's header sailed agonizingly wide from close range.

Atletico finally broke through in the 69th minute, thanks to Giuliano Simeone's surging run down the right, which set up Thiago Almada for a simple finish from inside the six-yard box. However, given their tendency to drop points after taking the lead, the Metropolitano crowd had reason to feel anxious. Their nerves were put to the test as Jan Oblak made an outstanding save to deny Ante Budimir, keeping the visitors' hopes alive.
The win marked Atletico Madrid's ninth victory in 10 home LaLiga games against Osasuna under Diego Simeone. Osasuna's struggles away from home continued, with their loss extending their winless run against Madrid clubs to seven games.
