Josh Hazlewood confident about Ashes Campaign

Josh Hazlewood insists he's fit and ready for the Ashes, despite Australia's selectors doubting their ageing pacers' durability for the full five-Test series.

“My body feels great right now, I am very confident of getting through all five (tests) without any dramas...”

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has expressed confidence in his fitness to play all five Tests, despite selectors doubting their ability to last a full series. Hazlewood, who has 295 Test wickets at an average of 24.21, believes his body is feeling great and he's ready for the challenge.

Hazlewood has been enjoying a good start to the Australian summer, taking two wickets in both the series-opening one-day international against India in Perth and the last T20I against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui. He found the Perth Stadium pitch against India to his liking and hopes to see similar conditions during the Ashes opener.

Meanwhile, Australian captain Pat Cummins is in doubt for at least the Perth opener on November 21. Despite this uncertainty, Hazlewood is focused on his own game and is confident about playing all five Tests without any issues.

“It was a nice start,” he told Australian media of the India ODI.

“(My) rhythm felt good off the back of New Zealand. Everything is feeling good at the moment, a nice way to start the build (to the Ashes).

Australia's fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is a significant boost for the home side, with 295 test wickets at an impressive average of 24.21. Hazlewood's form is a welcome sign for Australia, who haven't lost a test to England on home soil in 15 years.

Hazlewood thrived on the lively Perth Stadium pitch against India on Sunday and is hopeful for similar conditions when the English team arrives for the Ashes opener.

Perth always offers some nice bounce and pace which has served us well in the past, especially with our bowlers who all offer something different,” he added.
