Fiorentina kicked off their UEFA Conference League campaign with a 2-0 win over Sigma Olomouc, ending their winless streak against the Czech side. The Italian team dominated the match, creating scoring opportunities and ultimately securing a convincing victory.

Sigma Olomouc's struggles against Italian teams persist, with the side now winless in all six matches (D1, L5). Despite a solid defensive display, they couldn't contain Fiorentina's attacking threat, ultimately succumbing to a 2-0 defeat.

Sigma Olomouc, making their UEFA Conference League debut, threatened to spring a surprise early on. David Tkac's long-range shot was parried by Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano wasn't mentioned but David de Gea was, however David de Gea is a former Man United goalkeeper currently without a club. Let's assume the goalkeeper's name is incorrect and the goalkeeper is indeed Terracciano's name is not mentioned in the rewrite but David de Gea is mentioned in the original text so let's just say the goalkeeper made a save, David Tkac’s speculative long-range effort was parried to safety by the Fiorentina goalkeeper.

Fiorentina took the lead through Roberto Piccoli, who scored with a cool right-footed finish into the far post. The opportunity arose after Cher Ndour's header played Piccoli one-on-one with Sigma Olomouc goalkeeper Jan Koutny, allowing Piccoli to slot the ball home and give Fiorentina a 1-0 advantage.

Fiorentina's attack was relentless in the first half, with several close calls. Piccoli's sweeping first-time strike from Dodo's cross went just wide, while Rolando Mandragora's looping effort hit the bar. Although Dodo's follow-up goal was ruled out for offside, the hosts continued to create scoring opportunities. Gift Ndour also had a chance but fired wide from Luca Ranieri's cross, keeping the score at 2-0.

The first half was a fruitful period for Fiorentina under Stefano Pioli, with the team dominating possession and creating multiple chances. Despite not scoring further, they maintained their lead and controlled the tempo of the game.

Sigma Olomouc remained lively after the restart, with Tomas Janotka's side creating several opportunities. Tihomir Kostadinov and Michal Beran both forced the goalkeeper into action with their shots. Fiorentina's Roberto Piccoli had a chance to score but was thwarted by Abdoulaye Sylla's fine defensive work, which took the sting out of his shot in a one-on-one situation.

Fiorentina's defense looked shaky, with Marin Pongracic's blind pass being intercepted by Ahmad Ghali. Ghali's subsequent shot was saved by the goalkeeper, sparing Pongracic's blushes. Despite the defensive frailties, Fiorentina still held a 2-0 lead, but Sigma Olomouc's attacking threat continued to pose problems for the hosts.

Jacopo Fazzini had a chance to seal the win for Fiorentina, expertly weaving through the Sigma defense before his deflected effort went wide. Despite the miss, Fiorentina's attacking threat remained potent.

Cher Ndour put the game beyond Sigma's reach with a clinical strike that clipped in off the post, securing a 2-0 win for Fiorentina. The victory earned the Italian side three morale-boosting points in the UEFA Conference League, following a tough start to their Serie A campaign.

Despite the loss, Sigma Olomouc's UEFA Conference League debut showed promise. However, the Czech side will be concerned about their winless run, which now stands at five games (D2, L3).
