Brentford's thrilling 3-2 win over Liverpool has dealt a significant blow to the reigning champions' title defense, extending their nightmare run to four consecutive Premier League losses. This devastating defeat marks the first time Liverpool has suffered four successive league losses since March 2021.

Despite their impressive 5-1 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League midweek, Liverpool were firmly grounded by Brentford's attacking prowess. The Bees took an early lead when Michael Kayode's long throw was cleverly headed on by Kristoffer Ajer, allowing Dango Ouattara to volley the ball into the net. This set the tone for a high-intensity match that would ultimately end in Liverpool's defeat.

Mohamed Salah threatened an immediate response for Liverpool, but Caoimhin Kelleher, a former Reds goalkeeper, denied him. Meanwhile, Florian Wirtz had a chance to score his first Liverpool goal but sliced a half-volley wide.

Brentford wasn't content with just a one-goal lead and continued to push forward, seeking to extend their advantage. Jordan Henderson shot wide shortly after the half-hour mark, and the Bees' pressure paid off when Giorgi Mamardashvili made an incredible one-handed save to deny Mikkel Damsgaard.

Damsgaard played a pivotal role in extending Brentford's lead, delivering a precise pass that split the defense and allowed Kevin Schade to score with ease.

Brentford's 2-0 lead wasn't secure heading into halftime, however. A well-timed delivery from Conor Bradley found Milos Kerkez, who headed home in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Brentford maintained their dominance after halftime, with goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili making an impressive save to deny Mikkel Damsgaard. However, the Bees were soon awarded a penalty after VAR ruled that Virgil van Dijk had fouled Dango Ouattara on the edge of the box.

Igor Thiago stepped up to take the spot kick and calmly slotted the ball home, restoring Brentford's two-goal advantage. The goal marked his fourth in as many matches.

Arne Slot sprang into action after conceding a third goal, making four swift substitutions in a desperate attempt to salvage the match. His gamble, however, ultimately fell short.

.A late lifeline came courtesy of Mohamed Salah, who netted his first goal in six matches with a thunderous strike that left the crowd hopeful, but it proved too little, too late.

Liverpool's struggles in London continued, with the Reds extending their losing streak in the capital to five games – their worst run since 1970. The defeat also puts further pressure on their title aspirations.

In contrast, Brentford celebrated a thrilling victory that pushed them into the top half of the table. The win marked their third in four Premier League matches, highlighting their growing momentum this season.
