Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirms Alexander Isak suffered a groin injury during their 5-1 Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

“Hugo got a big chance and he scored it. Alex got a few, unfortunately, he didn’t score yet, but he had to go off at half-time...”

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed that striker Alexander Isak suffered an injury during their 5-1 Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday. Isak was replaced at halftime by Federico Chiesa, with Slot citing a groin issue as the reason for the substitution.

Liverpool ended a four-match losing streak with a convincing 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, thanks to goals from Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Cody Gakpo, and Dominik Szoboszlai. The win marked a significant turnaround for Slot's side, who had struggled to find form in recent games.

Alexander Isak, the British record signing, started the game alongside Hugo Ekitike up front but was substituted at half-time. After the game, Arne Slot spoke to TNT Sports and confirmed that Isak's substitution was due to a groin injury.

Arne Slot said, “Hugo got a big chance and he scored it. Alex got a few, unfortunately, he didn’t score yet, but he had to go off at half-time because he felt his groin a little bit. That’s a pity.” He expressed his concern over Isak's injury, highlighting the challenges of finding the right balance for a player who has been out for three months.

“I’ve said it many times, it’s such a difficult balance to find with a player who missed out three months. You bring him slow, you bring him slowly.

“People also maybe sometimes argue with me if you cannot play him more or more often, no longer.

“Now we've played him for the second time in three days, and unfortunately, he had to go off, so let's hope for the best.

“But it's it's not an easy balance to find if a player has been out for so long.”
