Fredericia Parts Ways with Coach Gudmundur Gudmundsson
Gudmundur Gudmundsson, who led Denmark to Olympic gold in 2016, has been sacked by Fredericia due to disappointing results and a lack of spark in the team's play.
“With the changes we have made to the squad, the starting point is different from when Gudmundur...”
Fredericia Håndboldklub has parted ways with head coach Guðmundur Þórðar Guðmundsson due to a lackluster start to the season. The team has won only two points in their first four matches, leaving them near the bottom of the Herreligaen standings.
Assistant coaches Jesper Houmark and Michael Wollesen will take the reins for the remainder of the season. Houmark will assume overall responsibility, working closely with Wollesen to steer the team towards better performance. This change aims to inject new energy and spark into the team's gameplay, addressing director Thomas Renneberg-Larsen's concerns about the team's recent lack of enthusiasm and flow.
“Throughout the past few seasons, we have changed the composition of the playing squad, with younger, talented players who are on their way and can eventually become top players in their positions.”
“With the changes we have made to the squad, the starting point is different from when Gudmundur joined FHK in 2022. Therefore, we have assessed that there is a need for a different coaching profile going forward,” says director Thomas Renneberg-Larsen.
