Daniel Farke on Leeds United's Transfer Plans
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke opens up about the club's transfer activity and approach to the season. Leeds United's attacking lineup has been bolstered with new signings.
“The second principle is once a transfer window is closed and I can't influence things anymore, you won't...”
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke remains unfazed by the club's Deadline Day transfer activity, or lack thereof. Despite bringing in 10 new players over the summer, Farke's attempt to sign another forward, specifically Fulham's Harry Wilson, ultimately fell through. However, he chooses not to dwell on what could have been, instead focusing on preparing his team for their upcoming match against Fulham.
Farke's measured response suggests he's prioritizing the bigger picture, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming fixtures over transfer speculation. With a strengthened squad, Leeds United looks to build on their progress, and Farke's calm demeanor indicates his confidence in the team's abilities. The test against Fulham will be a telling one, as Leeds seeks to make a statement in the Premier League.
“I've got a few principles with how I work and this is crucial for me. One principle is I like openness and transparency. I like to name it how I see it,” said Farke, who took Leeds up from the Championship last season.
“The second principle is once a transfer window is closed and I can't influence things anymore, you won't hear one bad word or comment from me in any way.
“I'm pretty fortunate to be allowed to work in the business. My job is to adapt to the reality and work with what I've got.”

Leeds United has bolstered their attacking lineup with the signings of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor, but questions remain about the depth and firepower of their frontline. Calvert-Lewin, known for his injury issues, joined on a free transfer after leaving Everton, while Okafor brought his pace and skill from AC Milan. Despite these additions, Leeds might still be looking to strengthen their attack to compete effectively.
“I don't want to say different things to what I've said before. I won't come out and say it was never the plan to sign offensive players. I would never do this because I don't like to talk nonsense,” added Farke.
“There is no point for me to feel down and sorry for myself. We perhaps wanted a different deadline day or different transfer window, but right now we are just focused on trying to get as many Premier League points as possible.”
Leeds United has made a solid start to the season, earning four points from their opening three games. This promising beginning sets a positive tone for the team, and they'll look to build on this momentum as they face upcoming challenges. With a strong foundation, Leeds can aim to push for more wins and climb the league table.
