Como Donates Coppa Italia Proceeds to Flood Victims
Como Football Club donates proceeds from Coppa Italia match against Sassuolo to support local community affected by recent floods in Northern Italy.
“Como is more than just a city to me, it is home, it is family, it is community...”
Como's manager, Cesc Fabregas, announced that the club will donate all proceeds from their Coppa Italia match against Sassuolo to support the local community affected by the recent floods. The devastating flooding occurred after torrential rain hit Northern Italy, causing Lake Como to overflow and damage homes and businesses.
The centre of Como was severely impacted, with water flowing through streets and partially submerging cars. Fabregas expressed his thoughts for the people of Como, describing the scene as “heartbreaking.” As someone who has a deep connection with the city, having ended his playing career at Como in 2023 and later becoming the team's manager, Fabregas emphasized the importance of community and solidarity during this difficult time.
The Donation Initiative
- All proceeds from the Coppa Italia match against Sassuolo will be donated to support local families and businesses affected by the flood.
- The match is scheduled to take place at the Stadio Sinigaglia and is not believed to be at risk due to the flooding.
Fabregas's message to the people of Como was one of unity and hope, encouraging them to stay strong and know they're not alone. He believes that together, the community can overcome this challenge and see Como shine again.
“The club will donate all the proceeds from the Italian Cup match against Sassuolo... to support the local community during this difficult time,” Fabregas said in an Instagram post referring to the second-round tie between the two Serie A teams.
“My thoughts are with everyone in Como today. Seeing our beautiful lake flood and the damage it has brought is heartbreaking,” he added.
“Como is more than just a city to me, it is home, it is family, it is community.
“To all the people, families, and businesses affected, please know you are not alone,” Fabregas said.
