Calgary Flames Secure Future with Dustin Wolf's Contract Extension
Dustin Wolf commits to the Calgary Flames with a lucrative 7-year $52.5M contract extension, solidifying his position as a key player for the team.
“I got to spend another week training, getting ready for the season...”
The Calgary Flames have signed goalie Dustin Wolf to a seven-year, $52.5 million contract extension. This deal, worth $7.5 million annually, will kick in during the 2026-2027 season. Wolf expressed his excitement about committing to the team long-term, saying, “Eight more years here in the city. Now you don't have those contract talks looking over your shoulder; you can just go play. Hopefully, I have eight more years of not having to worry about that and now I can worry about playing hockey and helping my team win and go from there.”
.This contract extension signifies the Flames' confidence in Wolf's abilities, following his impressive rookie season where he finished second in Calder Trophy voting. Wolf posted a 29-16-8 record with a .910 save percentage and a 2.64 goals-against average, leading all rookie goalies in wins. He also had three shutouts, the most among rookie goaltenders.
The extension also includes a 10-team no-trade clause in the UFA years of his contract, providing Wolf with added security. Flames General Manager Craig Conroy believes this signing sends a positive message about the team's aspirations, stating,
“People want to be in Calgary and they believe we have a chance to win here.”

The Calgary Flames are gearing up for the upcoming season after a disappointing 2024-2025 campaign, where they missed the playoffs with a 41-41-0 record, finishing 15th overall in the NHL and 9th in the Western Conference. Despite their regular season struggles, goalie Dustin Wolf's impressive performance earned him a spot as a Calder Trophy finalist. Now, Wolf and the Flames are focused on improving their game, starting with a crucial Battle of Alberta matchup against the Edmonton Oilers on October 8th.
This high-stakes game sets the tone for the Flames' season, as they'll look to build momentum against their arch-rivals. Following the season opener, the Flames will host the St. Louis Blues on October 11th, marking their home opener for the 2025-2026 season. With a renewed sense of determination and a fresh schedule, the Flames aim to make a strong push for the playoffs.
