Harry Kane praises Luis Diaz's impressive start at Bayern Munich after their Super Cup win.

Harry Kane heaped praise on new teammate Luis Diaz, saying he's had a “perfect start” at Bayern Munich. This comes after Diaz scored on his competitive debut in Saturday's German Super Cup win over Stuttgart. Kane himself opened the scoring, and Diaz's goal sealed a 2-1 victory for Bayern.

Diaz's impressive performance marked a successful introduction to the team, following his summer transfer from Liverpool in a deal worth up to 75 million euros (£64.7m). After scoring, Diaz paid tribute to his late former teammate Diogo Jota with a celebration, highlighting the emotional connections that drive him on the pitch.

Key Highlights of the Match:

  • Bayern Munich's Victory: 2-1 win over Stuttgart in the German Super Cup
  • Goalscorers: Harry Kane and Luis Diaz
  • Diaz's Performance: Scored on competitive debut, showcasing agility and importance in modern football

Kane's praise for Diaz underscores the impact the Colombian winger has already had on the team. With Diaz's skills and Kane's leadership, Bayern Munich looks forward to a promising season.

“I think you can see what he brings 1v1,” Kane said, saying the Colombia winger was “really sharp, really agile.”

“I think it's important, especially in this modern football, for the winners to be scoring hopefully 15-20 goals a season.

“The goal was a great run, a great finish.

“Scoring your first competitive game for a new club is great and for it to be the winning goal is a perfect start for him.”

After scoring, Diaz ran to the corner flag and replicated Diogo Jota's video game celebration as a heartfelt tribute to his former teammate, who tragically passed away in July. This gesture highlights the strong bond between players, even beyond their time on the pitch.

“It was a nice tribute to him and his family and his brother,” a teammate noted. “Luis obviously played with him and knew him well. I think the whole football world comes together in moments like that. That whole situation obviously is a sad situation. The more we can come together and show our love, I think the better.”

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich is gearing up for their Bundesliga opener against RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena on August 22, 19:30 WAT.
