Feyenoord Complete Signing of Bosnian Defender Ahmedhodzic

Anel Ahmedhodzic joins Feyenoord from Sheffield United

Feyenoord has signed Bosnian international defender Anel Ahmedhodzic from Sheffield United on a four-year contract.

“I'm grateful that Feyenoord is giving me this opportunity and that they've done everything...”

Anel Ahmedhodzic has joined Feyenoord from Sheffield United on a four-year contract. The 26-year-old Bosnian international defender is set to play for the Dutch giants after the clubs agreed on a “significant” transfer fee, reportedly €6.9 million.

Anel Ahmedhodzic joined Sheffield United in 2022 from Malmö FF and went on to make 114 appearances, scoring 12 goals. The Bosnian international has now completed a move to Feyenoord, saying, “Things have moved incredibly quickly in the last few days. I couldn't be happier. Playing for such a big European club is something I've always worked hard for.”

Ahmedhodzic Clears to Play in Champions League Qualifier

Despite joining Feyenoord just a day before their UEFA Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahce, the club has successfully registered Anel Ahmedhodzic in time for Wednesday's match.

“I'm grateful that Feyenoord is giving me this opportunity and that they've done everything they can to get me eligible to play in the matches against Fenerbahçe. I can't wait to put on this shirt and give it my all with my new teammates. Here's to many great things to come.”

Ahmedhodzic's timely availability is a boost for Feyenoord, who are dealing with several injuries ahead of their season opener. Notably, centre-back Gernot Trauner is among the key players ruled out for the Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahce.

Feyenoord boss Robin van Persie has already said that there's a “big chance” Ahmedhodzic plays against Fenerbahce.

The third-round qualifier between Feyenoord and Fenerbahce kicks off on Wednesday, August 6th, at 21.00 CET.
