Manchester City has signed Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan on a five-year deal worth £46.3 million. Reijnders, City's fourth signing of the week, expressed his excitement, saying he's “ecstatic” to join Pep Guardiola's team.

Manchester City's recent signings include Rayan Cherki from Lyon and Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea, following the arrival of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves. Tijjani Reijnders, 26, joins from AC Milan, where he scored 15 goals in the 2024/25 season after moving from AZ Alkmaar in 2023.

Tijjani Reijnders joins Manchester City to strengthen Pep Guardiola's midfield options following Kevin De Bruyne's departure. “I am ecstatic to be signing for Manchester City,” Reijnders said. “City are one of the biggest teams in the world, with the best coach, world-class players and outstanding facilities.”

After four straight Premier League titles, Manchester City finished third last season and exited the Champions League early. Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak acknowledged the club should have been more aggressive in the transfer market ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Manchester City's signings, including Tijjani Reijnders, continue the squad overhaul that started in January with arrivals like Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez. Director of football Hugo Viana said, “We are very happy that Tijjani has joined us and we're excited for him to join Pep's squad.”

“He arrives here with extensive top-level experience in Europe, both at club level as well as on the international stage with the Netherlands.

“Tijjani adds extra energy, composure and creativity to our midfield and working with Pep and our coaches will only see him go from strength to strength.”

Manchester City, the defending Club World Cup champions, will compete in the expanded 32-team tournament. They'll face Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca in their opener on June 18th in Philadelphia.
