Stuttgart Open: Fritz and Shelton Book Quarterfinal Spots


Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton both advanced to the quarterfinals of the Stuttgart Open, with Fritz defeating Quentin Halys and Shelton beating Pierre-Hugues Herbert. They'll face Marton Fucsovics and Jiri Lehecka, respectively.


Taylor Fritz advanced to the Stuttgart Open quarterfinals with a 6-3, 7-6(6) win over Quentin Halys. He showcased impressive serving skills with 12 aces and hit 32 winners in the match, which lasted 1 hour and 23 minutes. Meanwhile, Jack Shelton also progressed in the tournament, continuing the American presence in the competition.


Taylor Fritz will face Marton Fucsovics in the quarterfinals of the Stuttgart Open. Fucsovics secured his spot by defeating Arthur Rinderknech 7-6(4), 6-3.

 



“I thought I played great in the big moments today down the stretch, and I'm just really happy to be back on the grass competing.


“It's a completely different game, playing on this surface, and hopefully I can get better and better as this week goes.”


Ben Shelton advanced to the Stuttgart Open quarterfinals, defeating Pierre-Hugues Herbert 7-6(4), 7-5. “I'm really happy. Happy to get my first win here in Stuttgart,” Shelton said after the match. He'll next face Jiri Lehecka, who beat Jan-Lennard Struff 6-4, 7-5.
