Manchester City Agree Deal for Teenage Sensation Sverre Nypan

Manchester City confirms deal for Rosenborg's Sverre Nypan, a 18-year-old midfielder likened to Kevin De Bruyne, as City builds for the future under Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City has agreed to a £12.5 million deal to sign 18-year-old Norwegian midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg. The teenager has been likened to Kevin De Bruyne and Martin Odegaard due to his exceptional skills on the field.

Nypan has been pursued by several top clubs, including Arsenal and Aston Villa, but Manchester City appears to have won the race. The young player is expected to join City's squad but might be loaned out for the upcoming season to gain more experience.

With 70 senior appearances for Rosenborg, Nypan has already showcased his talent, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists. He is known for his technical ability, intelligence, and maturity beyond his years, making him a promising addition to Manchester City's team.

Nypan's potential loan deal could see him play for one of City's affiliate clubs, such as Girona or Palermo, allowing him to develop his skills further before joining the City squad. This move would be City's fifth signing of the summer, following Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, and Marcus Bettinelli.

Manchester City has reportedly agreed to sign 18-year-old Norwegian midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg. The young playmaker has attracted attention from several top clubs, but City appears to have secured the deal.

“BREAKING: Sverre Nypan to Manchester City, here we go!” according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, as Nypan prepares to join Pep Guardiola's squad after the manager's big spending this summer.

“Plan presented in January and deal now done for €15m transfer fee.

“Agreement reached for 18-year-old talent who joins from Rosenborg as @TheAthleticFC reports.

“Understand Nypan’s now likely to go out on loan.”

The deal was also confirmed by David Ornstein, a transfer expert and journalist at The Athletic, who reported that Manchester City and Rosenborg had reached an agreement this week for Nypan's transfer. This signing is part of City's strategy to build for the future.

“Manchester City reach agreement with Rosenborg to sign Sverre Nypan. #MCFC paying #Rosenborg £12.5m; no further contingencies or sell-on clauses. Personal terms for 18yo Norway youth int’l in process of being finalised on contract to 2030.”

Roar Vikvang, former Rosenborg academy manager, praised Nypan's potential, saying, “He was the number one player at his age in the region.” Vikvang highlighted Nypan's early talent, noting that even at a young age, he had already visited clubs abroad.

Vikvang emphasized Nypan's promising future, stating, “He is certainly one for the future.”

“It was the work of me and the club to sign him. What was most important for him was how he could continue to develop as a player. It was 2020, so he was turning 14. Already at that time, he was so mature for his age.

“He was just searching for a place where he could continue to develop because, from my point of view, there was no other option than trying to get all the way (top level).

“But he hasn’t been in a hurry. He has always made good decisions.”
