FIFA Club World Cup: Juventus Edges Closer to Knockout Rounds with 4-1 Win Over Wydad
Juventus secures a 4-1 win over Wydad AC in the FIFA Club World Cup, edging closer to the knockout rounds. Kenan Yildiz scored a brace.
Juventus is one step away from securing a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup knockout rounds after Kenan Yıldız's impressive brace led them to a 4-1 victory over Wydad AC at Lincoln Financial Field. This win puts Wydad on the brink of an early exit from the tournament.
Wydad AC had a tough start to the tournament, losing 2-0 to Manchester City in their first match, and their situation hasn't improved much after this 4-1 thrashing. They conceded early goals, with Abdelnouaim Boutouil scoring an own goal in the 6th minute, and Wydad's only goal came from T. Lorch in the 25th minute. However, Kenan Yıldız's second goal sealed the deal for Juventus, and Dusan Vlahovic wrapped up the win with a penalty.
Juventus' Yildiz thwarted Amine Benhachem's team early on, playing a key role in securing a two-goal lead within 20 minutes.
He first combined with Khephren Thuram in a neat one-two before slotting the ball into the near post, aided by a deflection. Yildiz then doubled the lead with a powerful shot from the edge of the box, scoring in consecutive matches.
Wydad responded positively to their rough start, with Thembinkosi Lorch scoring to reduce Juventus' lead.
Lorch showed great composure, calmly lifting the ball over Michele Di Gregorio after being set up by Nordin Amrabat's precise through pass.

Juventus carried a slim lead into halftime but came out strong in the second half, seeking to restore their two-goal advantage.
Andrea Cambiaso hit the woodwork from a deep corner, and shortly after, Randal Kolo Muani narrowly missed, flicking Lloyd Kelly's low cross just inches wide.

Yildiz boosted Juventus' lead with his second goal, showcasing his confidence as he netted the third goal in Philadelphia.
Yildiz scored again, latching onto Kolo Muani's clever pass and calmly slotting the ball into the far corner with his right foot.
Dusan Vlahovic sealed the win with a stoppage-time penalty after being fouled in the box, moving Juventus to the top of Group G. With this win, they'll secure a top-two spot if Al Ain fails to beat Manchester City.
Wydad's slim chances of advancing to the last 16 now rely on Al Ain pulling off an upset win.
