Draper Advances to Queen's Semi-finals, Secures Top-four Seeding at Wimbledon

Britain's Jack Draper reaches Queen's Club semi-finals, secures top-four seeding at Wimbledon. Read more about his impressive win.

Britain's Jack Draper reached the Queen's Club semi-finals for the first time, defeating American Brandon Nakashima 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. This win keeps Draper in contention for the ATP 500 title and secures a top-four seeding at Wimbledon, making him a strong contender in the upcoming tournament.

The 23-year-old Draper faced a stern test from world No. 32 Brandon Nakashima, whose powerful game initially had Draper struggling. On a scorching day at Andy Murray Arena, Draper's form dipped, and he lost the second set. However, he regained his rhythm in the deciding set, breaking Nakashima's serve in the seventh game with a trademark powerful forehand.

Draper saved a break point while serving for the match at 5-4 and held strong to secure the win. He'll now face Czech player Jiri Lehecka in the semi-finals, who earlier defeated Britain's Jacob Fearnley 7-5, 6-2.

“It means the world to me to reach the semi-finals here,” Draper said, aiming to become the first British winner at Queen's Club since Andy Murray's fifth title in 2016. Draper secured a top-four seeding at Wimbledon, but downplayed the significance of potentially avoiding top stars like Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner until the semi-finals.

“I kept getting asked about that by the journalists but I've got to reach the semi-finals first,” he said.

“But it is an incredible position, I was at Wimbledon last year ranked 40 so to go there as fourth seed is a testament to all the hard work my team has done so very proud of that.”

Carlos Alcaraz is set to take on Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in the quarterfinals of the Queen's Club Championships, following his recent win against Jaume Munar. Meanwhile, British number one Jack Draper has already secured his spot in the quarterfinals after defeating Brandon Nakashima. Alcaraz's match against Rinderknech is scheduled to take place on Friday at the Andy Murray Arena, with the potential for a blockbuster semi-final matchup against Holger Rune if both players advance.
